Syrinx, now Syrinx 365 under Point of Rental, is a full hire management system. Inventory, scheduling, invoicing, reporting, and a mobile app that covers condition photos, inspections and delivery routes. It's a serious piece of software, used by thousands of rental businesses across Australia, the UK and the US.
If your firm already runs Syrinx, the natural question is whether you still need anything else for condition reports. Most of the time, no, and if it's working for you, keep using it. But there's one thing worth checking.
Where Syrinx already covers you
Syrinx's mobile app can capture condition photos as part of the standard hire and return workflow, and its customer portal lets hirers manage off-hire requests and report issues themselves. If your team actually uses that part of the workflow on every job, you're already ahead of a lot of the industry.
The gap worth checking
The word "every" is doing a lot of work in that last sentence. Big all-in-one systems like Syrinx tend to get adopted for the whole operation, quoting, invoicing and fleet, and the condition-photo step is one part of a much longer workflow. In practice, that step often gets the most attention on the bigger contracts, where someone is actively managing the process, and gets rushed or skipped on the quick, small hires that make up a lot of the daily volume.
Worth a five-minute check with whoever's actually on the yard floor: are condition photos genuinely taken on every hire, including the two-hour rental of a $150 tool, or mostly on the bigger gear?
If the answer is "mostly the bigger gear", that's the same gap we see with most all-in-one hire systems. It's not a flaw in the software, just what happens when a big system gets reserved for the jobs that feel like they warrant it.

Where HireCheck fits alongside Syrinx
HireCheck isn't a replacement for Syrinx, and if you've already invested time migrating your bookings and invoicing across, there's no reason to move any of that. HireCheck's job is narrower: fast, defensible condition reports for the hires that don't get the full workflow treatment.
Staff open a link on any phone, no app, no login, and capture timestamped, GPS-tagged photos and a customer signature in under a minute. If a hirer disputes damage, one click builds a side-by-side damage-claim pack from the hire-out and return photos, ready to send. It sits alongside Syrinx, not instead of it.
