Equipment goes missing. Hires end in a dispute over who was actually driving. A machine comes back damaged and nobody's quite sure who was behind the controls at the time. In all three cases, the hire business wishes they'd kept a record of the customer's licence at the start of the hire. Most do this on paper, if they do it at all, which means it's the first thing that goes missing when you actually need it.

HireCheck now has a spot for this on the pre-hire inspection, right under the signature pad. It's optional, and it works the same way on the staff dashboard and the mobile inspection page.

How it works

Tap Customer Licence, photograph it, done. The photo saves against that inspection the same moment you save the rest of the record.

Why it isn't treated like a damage photo

Every other photo in HireCheck exists to be shown: to a customer on their condition report, to an insurer in a claim pack, printed into a PDF. A licence photo is government ID. Showing it to the wrong person isn't a minor slip, so it doesn't follow the same rules as the rest of the app.

None of this is legal advice, and we're not lawyers. But if you're going to hold scans of government ID for your business, not keeping them any longer than you need to is just good practice, so we built the auto-delete in rather than leaving it up to you to remember.

Entirely optional

If you don't tap into the licence section, nothing changes. It sits quietly under the signature pad for the hires where you actually want it, and stays out of the way otherwise.
